  A truly magical experience in world class accommodation - Words cannot adequately express the wonderful experience we had at Mbazo Safari lodge. The lodge arranged transport from JNB airport with a great driver, Henri (picking us up at 3:00am... Read more in the morning when our flight landed). The arrival at the lodge was welcoming, with the manager Tania and her team meeting us with refreshing towels after our trip. We enjoyed an amazing breakfast while our room was prepared and enjoyed the pool and beautiful gardens overlooking the reserve. Our room was breathtaking, with every attention to detail taken care off. Our room had a wood fired hot tub and out door shower in addition to the luxurious indoor bathroom and bedroom. A beautiful outdoor patio opened up to complete privacy with a ceiling hung bed to relax and take in the scenery.

Our days started with a sunrise Safari drive with our guide Eddie, who was simply amazing. A picnic was setup each morning with coffee and light snacks. We got to see a whole range of different animals, and Eddie knew just where to drive to get the best sights. On returning from the morning safari drive, we had a wonderful breakfast prepared by the amazing staff who soon felt like family during our stay. After relaxing by the pool and spotting more animals from the grounds, including an elephant who came to welcome us in the pool (an experience I will never forget). A lunch was then served with a choice of two courses before heading out on the afternoon safari drive with Eddie again. Seeing the animals at sunset and some breathtaking views were magical. Eddie packed drinks of our choice and delicious snacks for our afternoon picnic stop. Each night we returned to a traditional welcome with the staff playing drums and singing around flaming torches and offered us a welcome back cocktail and hot towel. After a quick shower we then enjoyed a 3 course dinner under the stars.

There are just 5 lodges at this wonderful resort, so we got to meet the other guests who have now also become friends. It was our wedding anniversary during our trip and came back one evening to find out our room all decorated with rose petals and champagne, a truly magical moment.

Tania and her team run one of the most amazing hotels and experiences I have ever stayed at. The memories, the hospitality, new family, friends, and experiences will never be forgotten. Thank you for making our trip so magical!
